The definition of a robot is in flux and traditional robot manufacturers that have been building and supplying robots for decades have seen this industry undergo a dramatic transformation in the past few years. Robots have either been part of popular culture and science fiction or have been the workhorses of industrial shop floors until now. According to a new report from Tractica, as of 2016, the industrial robotics segment has been surpassed in terms of revenue by emerging robot types such as consumer robots, enterprise robots, and unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), with autonomous vehicles poised for strong growth in the coming years, as well.
