Capacitive sensing is a ubiquitous feature for many consumer and industrial electronics systems. While drop-in, fixed-function, capacitive-sensing solutions are readily available, general-purpose 8-bit microcontrollers with cap-sense capabilities can provide a more versatile approach that helps developers reduce power consumption, board size, and BOM cost.
